All Instax Minis Use the Same Film? Know in Details

Fujifilm Instax Mini cameras take and print instant photos using Fujifilm Instax Mini film. Once ejected from the camera, this camera creates photos that normally take about 90 seconds to develop. Unlike other cameras, these give you a physical photo that can be displayed. Does each Instax Mini camera use the same type of film?

The film size for all Fujifilm Instax Mini instant cameras is the same. The Instax Mini 90, Mini 70, Mini 40, Mini 7s, Mini 8, Mini 9, Mini 11, Mini Display, and more are included. Even some portable printers connect to your smartphone and use Instax Mini instant film. Fujifilm sells instant cameras and film in three sizes: Instax Mini, Instax Square, and Instax Wide. Approximately the same size as a credit card, Instax Mini film measures 3.39 inches tall by 2.13 inches wide (8.6cm tall by 5.4cm wide) and is twice as small as Instax Wide.

Instax Minis are the most popular Instax cameras. Despite its easy-to-use interface and consistent results, people of all ages love using this camera for events, scrapbooks, and simply capturing photos of their lives.

Instax Mini vs Other Instax Film

Fujifilm instant films work and look the same, but their sizes differ and they cannot be used with the other cameras in the Instax series. See the graphic above for more information. Instax mini-films are the smallest of the three sizes available for their Instax cameras and they are also the least expensive (read on for a list of some of the styles and colors available). Instax Wide film is almost twice the size of Instax Mini film, and Instax Square is similar (but smaller) to the original Polaroid instant film.

Instax Film Mini Cameras

Instax Mini cameras are very popular. Fujifilm’s Instax Mini 8 is easy to use, comes in a variety of colors and styles, and is also much cheaper than other styles of Instax cameras. Additionally, the Instax Mini camera uses the least expensive film of all the Instax cameras, especially when purchased in bulk.

The two most popular Instax Mini cameras are the Instax Mini 9 and Mini 11.

Instax Mini 9

Instax Mini 9 was created as an update to the Mini 8 and is similar to the 8+. It comes in 14 different colors, but some are hard to find and priced higher than others. Most, if not all, of the colors and styles, can be found on Amazon.com,

but only certain colors come packaged with film. Cobalt Blue, Lime Green, Black, Light Gray, Yellow, Ice Blue, Smokey White, Flamingo Pink, Arcadia Green, Clear Pink, Purple/Pink, and Purple are a few of the colors available. Additionally, Disney-themed models are available for Toy Story 4, Frozen II, and Star Wars.

The camera weighs 10.8 ounces (without film and batteries), has a built-in flash, has a focal length of 60mm (roughly equivalent to 35mm on a full-frame camera), a shutter speed of 1/60th, a selfie mirror next to the lens to make selfies easier, and a close-up lens attachment to shoot up to 13.5 inches (35cm) away from your subject, and a flash range of about 2 – 8.5ft (0.6m – 2.7m). Depending on the aperture setting, the camera can adjust the exposure level for you automatically or you can adjust the brightness dial yourself. On Amazon, the Instax Mini 9 in Ice Blue sells for $107.95 with batteries and 60 sheets of film. It’s powered by two AA batteries and can take about 100 pictures.

Instax Mini 11

As an update to the Instax Mini 9, the Instax Mini 11 comes in a variety of colors, but some are hard to find and are more expensive. There are many colors and styles available on Amazon.com, but only certain colors come packaged with film. Blush Pink, Ice White, Sky Blue, Lilac Purple, and Charcoal Grey are some of the colors available.

The camera weighs 10.3 ounces (without film and batteries), is slightly slimmer than the Instax Mini 9, has a focal length of 60mm(roughly equivalent to 35mm on a full frame camera), shutter speeds of 1/2 to 1/250sec and slow synchronization for low light controlled by the camera, has a built-in flash, a selfie mirror next to the lens to make selfies easier, built in selfie-mode that allows you to focus between 11 inches – 19.5 inches (0.3m to 0.5m) from the camera, and a flash range of about 1 – 8.5ft (0.3 to 2.7m). For brighter backgrounds, the camera automatically calculates the exposure level along with the flash. There are two AA batteries in the camera, and you can take about 100 photos with them.

The Instax Mini 11 in Charcoal Gray sells for $109.95 on Amazon and comes with 60 sheets of film and 4 AA batteries.

Other styles of Instax Mini Cameras Available

Since 1998, Fujifilm has released many Instax Mini instant cameras. I’ve compiled a list of some of the most popular Instax mini cameras below. For a more comprehensive list, however, visit this webpage, but many have been discontinued.

Instax Mini 7 and 7s

Some of Fujifilm’s first instant cameras were the Instax Mini 7, 7+, and 7s. As of 2008, Instax Mini 7s have been introduced (they are difficult to find). The Instax Mini 7 was introduced in 2004. With the introduction of the Instax Mini 7+, the Instax Mini 7 was upgraded and introduced later. Lady Gaga insisted that Polaroid make an instant film again with the Instax Mini 7s, which is the same camera rebranded as the Polaroid PIC 300. Due to this, the Polaroid PIC 300 camera is the only Polaroid camera that can use Instax Mini film. All Instax 7 cameras use two AA batteries, have a 60mm focal length (roughly equivalent to 35mm on a full-frame camera), a shutter speed of 1/60th, weigh 10.8 ounces (without batteries), and take Instax Mini film.

Instax Mini 8

In 2012, the Instax Mini 8 was introduced as an update to the Instax Mini 7s. As with the Mini 7s, it features a slimmer body, automatic exposure measurement that flashes the correct aperture setting for perfectly exposed images, a new high-key mode for portraits, and an improved viewfinder for visibility and clarity. It uses two AA batteries, has a 60mm focal length (roughly equivalent to 35mm on a full-frame camera), a shutter speed of 1/60th, weighs 10.8 oz (without batteries and film), and is compatible with Instax Mini film. Added to the Instax Mini 8+ are a selfie mirror and a close-up lens attachment that makes it possible to focus on objects close to the camera.

The Instax Mini 8 camera also came in a Minion version and Hello Kitty version as well.

Instax Mini 40

In 2015, Fujifilm introduced the Instax Mini 40. This compact camera features a textured cover and silver trim. It features a new self mode for perfectly lit and focused selfies, a selfie mirror, automatic exposure control with exposure compensation, electronic shutter 1/2 to 1/250 sec. and slow synchro for low light, selfie mode that focuses from

11.8 – 19.6 inches (0.3 to 0.5m), effective flash range from around 1 – 8.8 feet (0.3 to 2.7m). It takes 2 AA batteries, Selfie mode for perfectly lit and focused selfies, selfie mirror, exposure control with exposure compensation, electronic shutter 1/250 sec. and slow synchro for low light, and selfie mode that focuses on the subject instead of the background. Its focal length is 60mm(roughly equivalent to 35mm on a full-frame camera), it weighs 11.6 oz/330g (without batteries and film), its dimensions are 4 x 4.7 x (104 mm * 121 mm * 2.5 mm), and it takes Instax Mini film.

Instax Mini 70

In 2015, Instax introduced the Mini 70. Among its features are a self mode for perfectly lit and focused selfies, a selfie mirror, automatic exposure control, exposure compensation, a Hi-Key mode for cleaner-looking skin, a tripod mount, a focusing distance of 11.8 inches, and a 10-second self timer. The camera uses two CR2 batteries, has a 60mm focal length (roughly equivalent to 35mm on a full frame camera), has a shutter speed of 1/60th, weighs 15.2 oz / 430g (without batteries and film), and has dimensions of 6.1 x 5.1 x 2.7 inches.

Instax Mini 90 Neo Classic

In 2014, the Instax Mini 90 Neo Classic was introduced. Like the Instax Mini 40, it has a similar design, but a larger sensor and more features. It does not have a selfie mirror but it does have an automatic exposure measurement that flashes the correct aperture setting for perfectly exposed images, and an LCD back with exposure counter (number of unexposed films), motor-driven 3-range focus switching of 11.8 – 1.9 feet (0.3m – 0.6m) for macro mode / 1.9 – 9.8 feet (0.6m – 3.0m) for normal mode / 9.8 feet (3.0m) – infinity for landscape mode, brightness control, 10 second self timer, flash ON/OFF, mode button (Party/Kids/Landscape/Double exposure/Bulb). The camera uses a rechargeable battery that lasts for 100 images, has a 60mm focal length (roughly equivalent to 35mm on a full frame camera), and a programmed electronic shutter release. The shutter opens for a second for long exposures and weighs 10.4 lbs. With batteries and film removed, it weighs 294 grams and measures 4.46 x 3.62 x 2.25 inches (113.4 x 91.9 x 57.2 mm).

Instax Display

2019 marked the introduction Instax Mini cameras with screens and memory cards are the only ones with screens. of the Instax Mini LiPlay. When printing, it takes approximately 12 seconds for the printer to eject the paper and about 90 seconds for the image to fully develop. Instax Mini 25

The Instax Mini 25  was Introduced in 2009. It is similar in body style to It has a button to change the orientation of the image printed on the film (vertical vs horizontal), a selfie mirror, an LCD on the back of the camera that tells you how many images you have left, close up lens attachment that allows you to focus up to 1 foot (35cm) from the subject, automatic exposure control with manual compensation, a built-in flash with an effective flash range of about 1.6 – 8 feet (0.5 – 2.5m) with three modes – Auto mode, fill-flash / intelligent flash mode, landscape mode (no flash). 2 CR2 batteries last for approximately 300 shots, the shutter speed ranges from 1/3 – 1/400, and the camera weighs 9.7 pounds. The camera weighs 275 grams without batteries and film, measures 3.9 x 4.2 x 1.78 inches (112.0 x 121.0 x 50.5 mm) and uses Instax Mini film.

Instax Mini 50S

In 2010, Fujifilm released the Instax Mini 50S. The Instax Mini 25 is similar in design, but is larger and offers more features. It does not have a self mirror-like the Mini 25 but it does have an automatic exposure system that calculates how much fill flash to use, and an LCD back with an exposure counter (number of unexposed films), Focus with a range of 2 feet (0.6m) – infinity for portraits and 9.8 feet (3m) – infinity for landscapes; close-up lens attachment with a focus range of 11.80 – 15.75 inches (30 – 40 cm) from the subject; print brightness control; and a 10-second self-timer.

The Instax Mini 50S uses 2 CR2 type batteries and lasts for around 300 images. The camera has a 60mm focal length (roughly equivalent to a 35mm lens on a full-frame camera), and there are four shooting modes: Auto, Landscape, Fill-In-Flash. It has an electronic shutter range of 1/3 – 1/400, a built-in flash with an effective range of 2 – 9.8 feet (0.6 – 3m), weighs 9.8 oz / 279 g without batteries and film, measures around 3.9 x 3.7 x 2 inches (112.0 x 96.5 x 49.5mm), and takes Instax Mini film.

Fujifilm Instax Mini EVO Instant Camera

Fujifilm recently released the silver and black Fujifilm Instax Mini EVO, which costs about $199. Even though it is hard to find since it was released, this instant hybrid camera is great because of its small size, retro look, built-in effects, long battery life, and the fact that it is a digital camera and instax printer all in one. As with other Instax cameras, this instant camera uses the cheapest instant film available, 2 x 3 inch Instax Mini film. It can also store images on the camera so you can select them as you wish. To save your film, you need to print the images. If connected via Bluetooth, it can also transfer images to your phone or print images from your phone.

Fujifilm’s Instax Mini EVO camera weighs 10 ounces. The phone weighs 285 grams (87 mm x 122.9 mm x 36 mm) and measures 3.4 x 4.8 x 1.4 inches (87 mm x 122.9 mm x 36 mm). The camera has a 1/5-inch CMOS sensor with an aperture of f2.0, a focal length of 28mm (35mm film equivalent), and a focusing distance of 4 inches (10 cm). Instax Square Cameras

The Instax Square series is the only Instax camera that takes square film similar to Polaroid film. The SQ1 Instax camera does not have a tripod mount, but it does have an aperture of f/12.6, a programmed electronic shutter 1/2 to 1/400 second, and a focal length of 65mm. In comparison with the Instax Mini cameras and film, the Instax Square cameras are larger and heavier, cost more, take a different type of battery (2 CR2 vs 2 AA), lack a self-timer, have a similar aperture size, a slightly narrower focal length (65mm vs 60mm), and the film is more expensive. Nevertheless, it has a wider shutter speed range and a better close-focusing ability than the Instax Mini.

Instax Wide Camera

Fujifilm sells only one Instax Wide camera at the moment, the Instax Wide 300 in black for $88.22, and a white version for $108.99 on Amazon. See this website for a more exhaustive list of Instax Wide cameras.

The Instax Wide cameras are bigger and heavier, cost more money, require more batteries (4 AA vs 2 AA), have a smaller aperture (f14 vs f12.7), and have a shorter focal length (95mm vs 60mm) than the Instax Mini cameras. There are fewer colors and styles available on the Instax film than on the Instax Mini cameras. However, it offers way more creative controls in terms of exposure compensation and flash than Instax Mini, and the resulting image is twice as large as Instax Mini.

How Does Instax Mini Film Work?

The Instax Mini instant film works just like the other Instax instant films (including the Polaroid instant film). A film developing lab operates inside the film. each sheet of film. Instax and Polaroid film are the only instant film available on the market that works similarly. The Instax film is made up of layers of light-sensitive chemicals and other chemicals on the film sheet. In the white border at the bottom, the chemicals used to develop the photo are kept along with the color dyes. The film is ejected from the camera after the photo has been taken. Film is ejected from the camera and sent between two rollers, which breaks chemical packets and spreads developing chemicals over the image to develop the film. Neither shaking the film nor putting it under your arm nor removing the negative image will speed up the process or facilitate development. In the 1970s and 1980s, Fuji’s instant film products were designed to be superior to those of Polaroid. Fuji’s instant cameras and film differ in the way the dye layers are rearranged so that development in the blue layer is visible first. Instax Mini Contact Sheet film is available in packs of ten sheets. Like an old-fashioned contact sheet, the film is in color with a black border and information about the film. Blue Marble instax Mini Film

Ten film sheets are included in each pack of Instax Mini Blue Marble film. There is color on the film, but the borders are marbleized with blue and gold colors. The film’s ISO speed is 800, and its grain quality, color, and skin tones are excellent. Currently, you can get the Instax Mini Blue Marble film 10 sheets pack for $7.98 ($0.78 per sheet). Alternatively, you can purchase the film in bulk on other websites like Ebay.com to save money.

The Instax Mini Monochrome film comes in packs of 10 film sheets. The film is in black and white and the borders are white. The film speed is 800 ISO with great grain quality and a smooth tonal range.
